Situational Pitching Program
Program Description
Situational Pitching™ is an advanced pitching development program designed to teach serious pitchers how to turn their physical abilities and pitching arsenal into effective game performance.
A pitcher can throw hard and still struggle to get outs.
At higher levels of baseball, successful pitchers must understand when to throw a particular pitch, where to locate it, how to attack a hitter, how to manage counts, and how to adjust when the game doesn't go according to plan.
Situational Pitching™ teaches athletes to think beyond the next pitch and develop the ability to read the game, anticipate situations, make adjustments, and execute under pressure.

Learn to Pitch, Not Just Throw
The program develops the mental and strategic side of pitching.
Athletes learn to evaluate:
-
The hitter
-
The count
-
The game situation
-
The baserunners
-
The score
-
The inning
-
The lineup
-
Pitch effectiveness
-
Their own physical condition
The objective is to help pitchers understand that every pitch has a purpose.
Pitch Sequencing
Elite pitching is rarely about throwing the same pitch repeatedly.
Athletes learn how different pitches can work together to create advantages.
Training can include:
-
Fastball sequencing
-
Breaking-ball sequencing
-
Changeup sequencing
-
Elevation changes
-
Inside/outside concepts
-
Velocity changes
-
Tunnel concepts
-
Setting up hitters
Pitchers learn to think in terms of sequences rather than individual pitches.
Count Management
The count changes the game.
Situational Pitching™ teaches athletes how to approach:
-
0–0 counts
-
Ahead in the count
-
Behind in the count
-
0–2 and 1–2 counts
-
Full counts
-
Two-out situations
-
Leadoff hitters
-
Cleanup hitters
-
High-leverage situations
The objective is to help pitchers make better decisions before the pitch is even thrown.
Pitch Location & Execution
Having the right pitch isn't enough.
The pitcher must execute it.
Athletes work on intentionally locating pitches:
-
Up
-
Down
-
In
-
Away
-
On the edges
-
Above the zone
-
Below the zone
-
In specific attack zones
Training can incorporate target work, video feedback, and performance technology to evaluate execution.
Pitching With Runners On Base
Situational Pitching™ prepares athletes for some of the most demanding situations in the game.
Training may address:
-
Runners on first
-
Runners on second
-
Runners on third
-
Runners at the corners
-
Holding runners
-
Pickoff situations
-
Timing
-
Slide-step mechanics
-
Preventing stolen bases
-
Pitching from the stretch
The goal is to help pitchers maintain their mechanics and composure while managing the entire situation.
Two-Strike Pitching
Getting to two strikes is only half the job.
Pitchers must know how to finish the at-bat.
Training emphasizes:
-
Put-away pitches
-
Chase pitches
-
Expanding the zone
-
Protecting against contact
-
Sequencing after two strikes
-
Maintaining conviction and execution
Athletes learn to attack the hitter strategically rather than simply trying to throw the hardest pitch.
Game Planning
Pitchers learn how to prepare for opponents.
Training can include:
-
Hitter tendencies
-
Strengths and weaknesses
-
Pitch selection
-
Attack plans
-
Lineup analysis
-
Scouting reports
-
First-at-bat strategy
-
Adjustments during subsequent at-bats
This teaches athletes to approach pitching as a combination of athletic performance and competitive intelligence.
In-Game Adjustments
Great pitchers don't necessarily have their best stuff every day.
They learn how to compete with what they have.
Athletes develop strategies for situations such as:
"My fastball isn't working."
"My breaking ball isn't sharp."
"The hitter is sitting on my changeup."
"I'm falling behind in counts."
"My command isn't where it needs to be."
The objective is to teach pitchers how to recognize problems and make adjustments instead of allowing one mistake or poor inning to dictate the rest of the game.
Mental Performance & Composure
Pitching is one of the most mentally demanding positions in sports.
Situational Pitching™ reinforces:
-
Focus
-
Confidence
-
Emotional control
-
Next-pitch mentality
-
Handling adversity
-
Controlling tempo
-
Competing under pressure
-
Resetting after mistakes
The pitcher must learn to control what they can control:
Preparation.
Decision.
Execution.
Response.
College & Professional Preparation
As pitchers progress to college and professional baseball, hitters become more disciplined and game strategy becomes increasingly sophisticated.
Physical talent alone is not enough.
Advanced pitchers must understand:
How to attack.
How to sequence.
How to adjust.
How to execute.
How to compete.
Situational Pitching™ prepares serious athletes for those demands by developing the strategic and mental side of pitching alongside their physical development.
The Situational Pitching™ Advantage
The goal isn't simply to develop a pitcher with a great arsenal.
It is to develop a pitcher who knows how and when to use that arsenal.
Situational Pitching™ helps athletes become:
SMARTER PITCHERS.
BETTER DECISION-MAKERS.
MORE EFFICIENT COMPETITORS.
MORE COMPOSED UNDER PRESSURE.
BETTER AT MAKING ADJUSTMENTS.
MORE PREPARED FOR GAME DAY.
Built for the Next Level
College and professional pitchers are expected to prepare for hitters, execute game plans, make adjustments, and compete in high-pressure situations.
Situational Pitching™ gives serious pitchers the opportunity to develop those skills in a structured training environment before they are tested at the next level.
