Elite Throwing & Arm Care Lab

Program Description

Elite Throwing is an advanced throwing performance program designed for serious baseball and softball athletes who want to improve throwing mechanics, arm strength, velocity, accuracy, and overall throwing performance.

While traditional throwing instruction often focuses primarily on the arm, Elite Throwing™ takes a whole-body approach to throwing performance.

Efficient throwing begins with the ground and requires coordinated movement through the legs, hips, core, torso, shoulder, and arm. The program helps athletes understand and develop the physical and mechanical components that contribute to an efficient and powerful throwing motion.

The goal is not simply to throw harder.

The goal is to develop a stronger, more efficient, repeatable, and durable throwing athlete.

Advanced Arm Strength, Throwing Mechanics & Velocity Development Program

Program Focus

  • Throwing Mechanics

  • Arm Strength Development

  • Throwing Velocity

  • Arm-Slot Development

  • Lower-Body & Hip Mechanics

  • Kinetic Chain Development

  • Long Toss Development

  • Position-Specific Throwing

  • Accuracy & Carry

  • Footwork & Transfer

  • Arm-Care Training

  • Throwing Workload Management

  • Recovery & Mobility

  • Performance Testing

Build the Throw From the Ground Up

Elite Throwing examines the complete throwing sequence:

Setup → Footwork → Lower Body → Hip Rotation → Separation → Arm Action → Release → Follow-Through

Athletes work on:

  • Athletic positioning

  • Footwork

  • Lower-body drive

  • Hip rotation

  • Torso rotation

  • Arm path

  • Release point

  • Follow-through

  • Throwing direction

  • Body control

Developing better sequencing can help athletes produce force more efficiently while improving throwing consistency.

Arm Strength & Velocity Development

Elite Throwing incorporates progressive training designed to develop the physical qualities that support throwing performance.

Training may include:

  • Progressive throwing

  • Long toss

  • Resistance training

  • Medicine-ball work

  • Rotational power

  • Upper-body strength

  • Lower-body strength

  • Core development

  • Shoulder stability

  • Scapular strength

The objective is to help athletes develop the physical foundation necessary to support higher levels of throwing performance.

Position-Specific Throwing

Different positions require different throwing demands.

Elite Throwing can be customized for:

Pitchers

  • Mound-to-plate velocity

  • Pitching-specific mechanics

  • Arm strength

  • Throwing workload

Catchers

  • Transfer efficiency

  • Footwork

  • Pop time

  • Throwing accuracy

  • Arm strength

Infielders

  • Quick release

  • Throwing from different angles

  • Body control

  • Arm strength

  • Throwing on the move

Outfielders

  • Crow-hop mechanics

  • Throwing with momentum

  • Long-distance throwing

  • Carry

  • Accuracy

Softball Athletes

  • Position-specific throwing mechanics

  • Arm strength

  • Quick release

  • Defensive throwing

  • Movement-specific development

Footwork & Transfer

Elite throwing isn't just about arm strength.

An athlete must be able to efficiently move the body into position and quickly transition from fielding or receiving the ball into a throw.

Training can focus on:

Field → Gather → Transfer → Throw

Athletes develop quicker transfers, more efficient footwork, and better body positioning for game-speed throwing situations.

Accuracy & Throwing Efficiency

Velocity without accuracy has limited value.

Elite Throwing emphasizes the combination of:

Velocity + Accuracy + Efficiency

Athletes learn to maintain throwing mechanics while changing:

  • Distance

  • Arm slot

  • Body position

  • Direction

  • Throwing angle

  • Movement

This helps athletes develop the ability to make accurate throws under the demands of competition.

Arm Care & Recovery

A serious throwing program must include appropriate preparation and recovery.

Elite Throwing can incorporate:

  • Dynamic warm-ups

  • Shoulder preparation

  • Scapular activation

  • Mobility

  • Rotator cuff strengthening

  • Recovery protocols

  • Throwing workload awareness

The objective is to help athletes develop appropriate training habits and support long-term throwing development.

Elite Throwing is a performance-development program and does not replace evaluation or treatment by a licensed medical professional when an athlete has pain or injury.

Performance Testing

JMISS can measure and track throwing development through metrics such as:

  • Throwing velocity

  • Position-specific velocity

  • Accuracy

  • Transfer time

  • Pop time

  • Long-toss distance

  • Arm strength

  • Rotational power

  • Lower-body strength

  • Mobility

  • Movement quality

Progress can be incorporated into the athlete's JMISS Athlete Performance System and JMISS Player Advancement Profile.

College & Professional Preparation

At the college and professional levels, throwing velocity, accuracy, arm strength, athleticism, and position-specific skills can become significant evaluation factors.

Elite Throwing helps serious athletes build measurable throwing performance while developing the physical qualities necessary to handle the demands of higher-level baseball and softball.

Athletes can use their performance data as part of their JMISS Player Advancement Profile, creating a documented history of development that can support their overall recruiting and advancement process.

The Elite Throwing Advantage

The goal isn't simply to develop a stronger arm.

It is to develop a better throwing athlete.

Elite Throwing helps athletes become:

  • STRONGER.

  • FASTER.

  • MORE EFFICIENT.

  • MORE ACCURATE.

  • MORE EXPLOSIVE.

  • MORE CONFIDENT.

  • BETTER PREPARED.

Built for the Next Level

College and professional baseball and softball demand athletes who can throw with velocity, accuracy, consistency, and efficiency while handling the physical demands of a long competitive season.

Elite Throwing provides serious athletes with a structured environment to develop those qualities, measure their progress, and prepare for the next level.

JMISS Elite Throwing & Arm Care

Build the Arm. Develop the Athlete. Elevate the Throw.
