Explosive Athlete Lab

Program Description

Explosive Athlete is an elite athletic performance program designed for serious athletes who want to become more powerful, more explosive, and more dynamic.

Speed is important, but elite athletic performance requires the ability to produce force quickly. Explosive Athlete focuses on developing the athlete's ability to rapidly generate and transfer force through the body—creating the explosiveness needed to sprint, jump, cut, throw, swing, accelerate, and compete at a higher level.

The program combines strength training, plyometrics, jumping, sprint work, medicine-ball training, rotational power, and explosive movement to develop the complete power athlete.

Train Power—Not Just Strength

Being strong does not automatically mean being explosive.

An athlete must be able to apply force quickly.

Explosive Athlete develops the relationship between strength and speed by training athletes to move with intent and produce maximum force in short periods of time.

Athletes work on:

  • Force production

  • Rate of force development

  • Rapid acceleration

  • Explosive movement

  • Ground-force production

  • Elasticity and reactivity

  • Power transfer

The objective is to help athletes turn their strength into usable athletic power.

Lower-Body Explosion

The lower body is the foundation of athletic explosiveness.

Training may include:

  • Squat variations

  • Jump squats

  • Broad jumps

  • Vertical jumps

  • Box jumps

  • Split jumps

  • Bounds

  • Sled work

  • Resistance sprints

Athletes develop the ability to produce and control force through the hips, knees, and ankles.

Upper-Body & Rotational Power

Explosiveness isn't limited to the legs.

Many sports require athletes to rapidly transfer power through the upper body and core.

Training may incorporate:

  • Medicine-ball throws

  • Rotational throws

  • Chest passes

  • Overhead throws

  • Explosive push movements

  • Pulling movements

  • Core stabilization

  • Anti-rotation training

This is particularly valuable for athletes involved in sports requiring throwing, swinging, striking, or rapid upper-body movement.

Jump & Plyometric Development

Plyometrics teach athletes to rapidly absorb and redirect force.

Training can develop:

  • Jumping ability

  • Landing mechanics

  • Elastic power

  • Reactive strength

  • Ground contact efficiency

  • Coordination

  • Body control

Athletes learn to produce force, absorb force, and redirect force more efficiently.

Acceleration & Sprint Power

Explosive Athlete also connects power development to speed.

Athletes train the ability to translate explosive strength into:

First-Step Acceleration → Sprint Power → Maximum Speed

Training may include:

  • Short sprints

  • Resisted sprints

  • Hill/sled variations

  • Explosive starts

  • Sprint drills

  • Acceleration mechanics

Reactive Athleticism

Elite athletes don't always get to decide when they move.

They must react.

Explosive Athlete incorporates reactive challenges that require athletes to respond quickly to:

  • Visual cues

  • Auditory cues

  • Movement cues

  • Opponent reactions

  • Direction changes

This helps bridge the gap between controlled training and unpredictable competition.

Performance Testing

JMISS can measure and track explosive development through assessments such as:

  • Vertical jump

  • Broad jump

  • Repeated jump performance

  • 10-yard sprint

  • 20-yard sprint

  • Acceleration

  • Medicine-ball power

  • Lower-body strength

  • Relative strength

  • Reactive ability

Results can be incorporated into the athlete's JMISS Athlete Performance System and JMISS Player Advancement Profile.

College & Professional Preparation

At the college and professional levels, athletes compete against opponents who are stronger, faster, and more explosive.

Developing power can provide meaningful advantages across virtually every sport.

Greater explosiveness can help an athlete:

  • Accelerate faster

  • Jump higher

  • Change direction more effectively

  • Produce greater throwing or striking power

  • Create separation

  • Improve defensive range

  • Generate more force

  • React faster

  • Perform explosive movements repeatedly

Explosive Athlete provides serious athletes with a structured environment to develop these qualities while measuring their progress.

The Explosive Athlete Advantage

The objective isn't simply to make athletes stronger.

It is to teach them how to turn strength into speed and power.

Explosive Athlete™ helps athletes become:

  • STRONGER.

  • FASTER.

  • MORE POWERFUL.

  • MORE REACTIVE.

  • MORE EXPLOSIVE.

  • MORE ATHLETIC.

  • MORE DYNAMIC.

Built for the Next Level

College and professional athletes are expected to perform explosive movements at increasingly high levels.

Explosive Athlete prepares serious athletes for those demands by developing the physical qualities that allow them to produce force quickly, move efficiently, and perform explosively under pressure

JMISS Explosive Athlete

Build the Force. Create the Power. Become Explosive.
