Director of College Placement, Sports Science, & Sports Psychology
Coach David Angeron is the Founder and Director of the John Melvin Institute of Sports Science (JMiSS), bringing decades of experience in kinesiology, sports performance, professional baseball coaching, scouting, athlete development, and Christian education to the JMiSS mission.
With a multidisciplinary background in Kinesiology, Healthcare Management, sports science, coaching, professional scouting, and athlete development, Coach Angeron has built his career around understanding what makes athletes perform at their highest level—and helping them develop the physical, mental, technical, and character traits necessary to reach that level.
Coach Angeron holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Healthcare Management, and a PhD in Philosophy. His educational background, combined with extensive practical experience in athletics, provides the foundation for JMiSS's integrated approach to sports performance and player development.
Professional Baseball Coaching & Scouting
Coach Angeron's experience extends beyond collegiate athletics into professional baseball. He has coached in Minor League Professional Baseball, including with the 2002 League Champion Pensacola Pelicans and the Springfield Mountain Ducks of the Frontier Professional Baseball League.
His professional baseball experience also includes serving as a Major League Baseball Scout for the Milwaukee Brewers, where he was involved in the evaluation and identification of baseball talent. This experience provided Coach Angeron with firsthand insight into the scouting process, player evaluation, athletic potential, skill assessment, and the qualities organizations look for when identifying players capable of advancing to the next level.
His combination of coaching and scouting experience has helped shape the JMiSS philosophy that effective athlete development begins with understanding the individual athlete—how they move, how they perform, where they can improve, and what it will take for them to reach their goals.
The JMiSS Approach
At JMiSS, Coach Angeron leads an innovative approach to athlete development that integrates sports science, biomechanics, human movement, strength and conditioning, mental performance, injury prevention, sport-specific training, talent evaluation, and performance assessment.
He believes athletes should not simply train harder—they should train smarter. Through objective assessment and intentional programming, JMiSS helps athletes identify strengths, address weaknesses, improve movement efficiency, and develop the physical and mental tools necessary for long-term performance.
Coach Angeron's experience as a professional baseball coach and MLB scout also brings a valuable talent-evaluation perspective to JMiSS. He understands that athletic potential is about more than today's statistics. It involves projection, work ethic, movement quality, coachability, mental toughness, athletic intelligence, and the ability to continually develop.
Developing the Complete Athlete
Coach Angeron is also the Founder of John Melvin University and John Melvin Christian College, where his commitment to developing student-athletes extends beyond competition. His philosophy emphasizes the development of the whole person—academically, athletically, mentally, spiritually, and as a leader.
His vision for JMiSS is to create an environment where athletes have access to the knowledge, technology, coaching, assessment, and resources necessary to maximize their God-given abilities.
Whether working with a youth athlete learning the fundamentals, a high school athlete preparing for college recruitment, a collegiate athlete pursuing the next level, or an advanced player seeking professional opportunities, Coach Angeron brings a unique perspective shaped by science, coaching, scouting, education, and years of experience in competitive athletics.
At JMiSS, his mission is simple: help athletes understand their potential, develop their abilities, and prepare for what comes next.
“Train Today. Dominate Tomorrow.”
